Gelatin

Kunsthalle St. Gallen, St. Gallen

26 January–24 March 2002

The Austrian artist group Gelatin (Wolfgang Gantner, Florian Reither, Ali Janka and Tobias Urban) premiered their new installation 'Flaschomat' in St. Gallen. In their own words: "Behind four walls something megascarry awaits you. Because of its hugeness and energy it can only be a flaschomat. This world sensation was invented by Gelatin and is now available at Kunsthalle St.Gallen. Come and bring your friends to see and feel this farting, burping megascarry thing."

After being injected through a solid wall into a scintillating bottle-filled room one was left to learn how to move in between empty bottles, slowly making your way to the top in order to access a tobogan (the only way out) to be spilled out. In between funpark and mind expanding trip Gelatin's machine quickly became an attraction in its own right and eventually an urban legend.
