Pablo Bronstein: Girl on a Late-19th-Century Swiss Balcony

Le Mouvement 2: Performing the City

12th Swiss Sculpture Exhibition, Biel/Bienne

26–30 August 2014

For Le Mouvement, the 12th Swiss Sculpture Exhibition in Biel/Bienne, Pablo Bronstein presented a performance of a dancer on the the balcony of a classical facade that overlooks Zentralplatz of Biel/Bienne. The performance raises questions: Is a balcony always private? Or does it become public the moment it is occupied by a human body? With his work, the Argentine, London-based artist explores Baroque, Rococo and neoclassical architecture and ornamentation. He uses a variety of media, such as drawings, large-scale installations and classical dance.
