A Layer of Snow and a Layer of Silence

Blattistafel above Gstaad, Switzerland

25 January–8 March 2014

Held in a remote hut in the Swiss alps above Gstaad in the dead of winter, 'A Layer of Snow and a Layer of Silence' consisted of a site-specific exhibition and series of performances. It was only accessible by snowshoeing to the hunting lodge seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The exhibition unveiled layers of the past, amplifying buried narratives and pointing to notions of secrecy. Hidden away in the mountains, the project was an experiment in access and concept, situating artistic practices in new ways as forms of ritual.
